Sickness, Bappy, and a what?...11 May 2026
Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening my family and friends. I hope that this letter finds you in good health and prosperity. I'm sorry that I haven’t written in about a month, however I will say that this will hopefully be a more entertaining email because of it.
To begin, I stopped writing emails when I got food poisoning. Let me tell you that was probably one of the most gnarly experiences of my life, it lasted for about 2 and a half days and at about the 30 hour mark I decided I was ready to go out and work. This was wrong. The time spent working just made my condition worse, so that was great.
Anyways, while I was sick the Lord was off about his work. There's the old lady that we gave a Book of Mormon to who read 380 pages since the last time we were able to talk to her. She believes Joseph Smith's experience and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Oh, I should also preface with the fact that she is a Hindu. She also said that she accepts Christ as her Redeemer now. We had the opportunity to extend Baptism to her this last week and she accepted. She's come to church twice now and we only have taught her twice formally. She also gave me this lit letter that I put pictures of in my album.
We also had an out of the blue Baptismal invitation to a guy named Jose, he's on dialysis and doesn't think that he can come to church so that's going to take some encouraging because he accepted. We'll figure it out.
We also invited Sister Jingle to be baptized and she accepted. This one was pretty expected but still cool.
We also had the baptism of Reymark. This was cool as he kinda just resolved his concerns himself. He stepped away for a little and when he came back he was like, ya this is what I want. This was a cool experience.
Anyways, these are some miracles that have happened, if I'm being honest this has been a difficult area for me, we have grinded finding ever since I got here so these miracles have been very encouraging in remembering that this is the Lord's work. To be noted that most of these happened in the last 2 weeks of a 3 month grind here. The work is not perfect because you are not perfect, but it can be guided if you let it.
Funny thing that also happened this week is one of our friends offered her sister to me to be my wife, this caught me quite off guard. She lives in Ilocos which is a part of our mission, so hopefully I don't get transferred into her area ever because that would be kinda awkward.
Anyways, those are really just the highlights of what's happened the last month. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me, or if you're shy, send them to my mother and I'll respond in my next email... unless its embarrassing but maybe even then.
Well take care all y'all's and have a good old dandy time in the life over yonder.
Elder Shill
