Uuwi Na Sila (They are on their way home) - 29 June 2026

Magundang gabi my dear friends and family, this is Elder Shill coming at you from the land of the Philippines. I apologize for not being the best at emailing, it is a very easy thing to slip from ones mind. This has been quite the transfer filled with a lot of sweet but definitely pretty freaking bitter goodbyes. Elder DeWitt (my current companion) Elder Phelps (the guy who lives 5 minutes from my parents house) and Elder Blaser all left this afternoon for their comfortable beds back in ol' Utah USA. Love all three of those boys and I am so grateful for their friendships and impact that they have had on me up to this point. It feels kinda weird now, I have never really experienced the Philippines without those guys and I'm not sure how this is going to go. However all the new wide eyed, unsuspecting, curious American kids will be coming in these next 2-4 months so I will get to their Phelps, Blaser and DeWitt, which will be really fun, and slightly stressful. Sometimes God let...

Hello my persons, hope y'all's is wells. Please excuse my grammar I know it's wrong.  There has been a lot that has happened in this last period of time. Don't ask me how long it has been since I have written an email, cause I really do not know.   Hey I'm 19 now lol. So that's chill.  Anyways, I got transferred down to Aringay about 4 weeks ago and my new comp in Elder DeWitt. He goes home in 2 weeks which is kinda unfortunate because he is in fact a homie.  Along with that we have had 3 baptisms, now this is legendary. One of them was a former Muslim as well which is lit. Also nanay Leticia got baptized in my old area this last weekend which was sweet. She was a Hindu and I will say it's crazy how dramatic the change is in these people's lives when they except Jesus Christ. It just like takes a weight off their shoulders and brings a joy that is so evident in their countenance.  My new area is down in the the lowlands pretty close to the beach, we ha...

Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening my family and friends. I hope that this letter finds you in good health and prosperity. I'm sorry that I haven’t written in about a month, however I will say that this will hopefully be a more entertaining email because of it. To begin, I stopped writing emails when I got food poisoning. Let me tell you that was probably one of the most gnarly experiences of my life, it lasted for about 2 and a half days and at about the 30 hour mark I decided I was ready to go out and work. This was wrong. The time spent working just made my condition worse, so that was great. Anyways, while I was sick the Lord was off about his work. There's the old lady that we gave a Book of Mormon to who read 380 pages since the last time we were able to talk to her. She believes Joseph Smith's experience and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Oh, I should also preface with the fact that she is a Hindu.  She also said that she accepts Christ as her Redeeme...

Lipat na ako... charot langgg - 2 April 2026

Hello po my dear friends and family. We did in fact have transfer calls today, and me and Elder Borejon are in fact not leaving, so this is going to be a blast. Aside from that, there wasn’t a ton that happened this week, we really were just on the grind and that's what its gonna be for this next transfer. Just finding till we drop. On an interesting note, the Philippines is in an energy crisis (daw) because of the war and oil shortages. So I have had the unique experience of having people say things like this to me: "You know the whole world hates YOU right now." (Insert aggressively pointed finger). It really caught me off guard the first time that it happened but I guess it makes sense. I also did in fact find a dog that reminds me of the hyena from Lion King, take a look in the photos, you’ll know it when you see it.  Besides that, there really wasn't anything that happened. Sorry for a bit of a boring email.  Love you all, hope you enjoyed conference, I haven...

Eat the Whole Pie Shill - 30 March 2026

Well good morning, afternoon, and evening to my wonderful family and friends. I have in fact survived yet another week in the mission field, however this week we took some casualties: not necessarily a bad thing, however, difficult non the less. What was the casualty? Any amount of confidence or pride I had in my ability to teach the gospel, and teach it in another language. Before I get into that however, there were some other things that happened this week. We started off with a District Blitz where all 10 Elders go to one area and do finding for that area. This was brutal. We knocked every single house that we passed and I don't think I have ever been in a less interested or welcoming part of this country. However, we did find this weird statue place that freaked me out kinda-- I'll add photos to the album. I also hear someone playing Space Song by Beach House, in the same statue garden, weirdly enough.  Wednesday and Thursday were just a grind, contacting all the people ...

Hello Friends and family,  This week was nothing too special. It was really just the mission grind:That being said, there were some cool things that happened this week that I would like to mention.  The first one is that we had what we call a district bullets on Tuesday in our area. This is where the entire district comes to our area and just finds new people to teach for 1 whole day. This was a really cool experience, because Elder Gallagher and I had a weird amount of success. Including one nanay (grandma) that we were definitely supposed to find. We walked up to a house that had a sari-sari store in the front of it and we noticed that it was completely empty. So we knocked and asked and she was struggling financially because she was paying for her daughter's schooling. We were then able to share about the plan of salvation and bear testimony that Heavenly Father loves her. Simple words that left everyone in tears, it was lit.  The next day we did finding again, just ...

Every Day is a Leg Day - 15 March 2026

Hey there friends and family, I hope you have had a good past couple weeks, sorry that I haven't written in a couple weeks. Emails are tiring man. However there has been a lot that has happened over this past couple weeks, including 3 Baptisms. Dexter, Summer and Raine. This was super awesome, they are all 3 cousins: Dexter is 17, Raine 15, and Summer 12. Raine is super solid and Dexter is pretty awesome too. Summer will follow them and will more just grow up in the Gospel and be strong in it. Another thing that's really crazy that happened one day this week: Elder Borejon and I extended a Baptismal invite to this Nanay (older lady) that we hadn't really taught a ton. Basically, we both thought we were going to teach the restoration then he looked at me said what should we teach and I said baptism. He just looked at me and said sge (OK). So we taught it and I extended to her and her response after a short pause was just "sge saan tayo" or "ok where are we?...
